Apple's Siri Renovation Might Take Longer Than Expected

Apple's highly anticipated Siri advancements, initially promised for 2025, may not arrive as quickly as expected. While it was widely reported that these updates would come with iOS 18.4 in April, new information suggests that the timeline could be pushed back. Although Apple has yet to officially announce an exact release date for the new features, they were initially previewed at the WWDC 2024 event and were expected to be integrated into iOS 18. However, a recent Bloomberg report raises doubts about this timeline.

The report indicates that Apple's progress on these improvements has encountered some obstacles. Features originally slated for iOS 18.4 are now expected to be delayed, with some potentially not arriving until May or later. Internal testing reportedly hasn't been as smooth as anticipated, leading to further setbacks. In fact, some of the new features may be included in iOS 18.5 but remain inactive until Apple is ready to enable them.

As a result, several of the most exciting enhancements, such as Personal Context Understanding, In-App Actions, and Onscreen Awareness, will have to wait for a later launch. These features are part of a broader effort to improve Siri's capabilities, allowing it to interpret commands more accurately and execute multiple steps in response. For example, after a user asks about a sports team, they could follow up with a simple question like "When do they play next?" and Siri would automatically add that event to their calendar.

The key to this improvement is app intents, which allow developers to offer specific functionalities within their apps that can be directly used by Siri. This feature will enhance Siri's ability to integrate seamlessly with third-party applications, making it smarter and more versatile.

In addition to these updates, further advancements for Siri and Apple Intelligence are expected to be unveiled at WWDC 2025, which will likely offer even more exciting improvements for Siri’s performance and functionality.

While some hoped for the newer Dynamic Island design, Apple appears to be keeping the SE slightly behind the curve, as it has in previous generations. A leaked video from Majin Bu shows what appears to be a non-functional dummy unit of the upcoming SE, likely used by case manufacturers. The foo...
